The Guild of Accessible Web Designers has an IRC channel called #gawds on irc.freenode.net

On my Mac running system 9, I downloaded a client called Snak - it also supports OS X. Nick Kew also recommends an easy-to-use cross-platform client available at www.xchat.org.
