GAWDS announces a new partnership with Accessites

Alas, all good things come to an end, and we now officially say goodbye to the GAWDS Site of the Month award. The award has been with us since late 2004 but due to dwindling interest in recent months we figured it was time to replace the feature with something fresh.

Our good friends over at Accessites review sites for accessibility on a regular basis using a sizeable team of dedicated accessibility professionals. We concluded that there was no sense in duplicating something that was being done so well elsewhere.

From now on the shortlist for the new award will be selected by Accessites. Submitted sites will need to comply with Accessites selection criteria. The final award will be selected by GAWDS and will be accompanied by an analysis of the site.

If you would like to submit a website you will now need to send your nomination to the Accessites submission page. Past submissions will be screened and forwarded for Accessites for consideration. The best sites will be selected for the new "GAWDS Web Accessibility Award".

We want to take this opportunity to thank all the members that have shown their support by submitting sites and voting. We hope that members will continue to show support for this new feature and enjoy the enhanced quality that the new partnership will bring.

We may need some help with the review and write up stage of the award. So if you are a GAWDS member with good technical auditing and writing skills and would be interested in writing a quarterly review, then please let us know.
